Armidale Walking Tracks
High in the tablelands of New England, roughly 5 hours northwest of Sydney, is Armidale. Famed for bushrangers (such as Fred Ward, “Captain Thunderbolt”) and a successful rural settlement, Armidale is cosy in winter and dusty in summer.
Linked to the coast by 100km stretch of road, the Waterfall Way, the region from Armidale to Dorrigo, Bellingen and Coffs Harbour offers a jaw-dropping series of waterfalls, gorges, forests and plateaus scattered among a patchwork collection of national parks.
